The Immigrant Son

Reclaim Your Narrative. Redefine Your Manhood.

You are a man of two worlds. You carry the sacrifices and dreams of your parents, while building a life on your own terms. This journey often leaves you straddling cultural expectations, traditional definitions of masculinity, and a deep-seated desire for personal freedom. If you've ever felt the pressure of generational duty, wrestled with the emotional inheritance of your family, or wondered how to honor your heritage without sacrificing yourself, this space is for you.

What is “The Immigrant Son?”

The Immigrant Son is an 8-week virtual therapeutic group designed to be a transformative space for men raised in immigrant families. We move beyond surface-level conversation to explore for key themes of immigrant masculinity.

Themes Explored in The Immigrant Son

  • Identity & Cultural Masculinity

Unpacking inherited definitions of manhood and asking, "Who is the immigrant son?"

  • Duty vs. Desire

Navigating the complex space between familial expectations, personal ambition, and finding authentic success.

  • Emotional Inheritance

Understanding how emotions were modeled in your family—from silent fathers to devoted mothers—and integrating those influences.

  • Guilt & Gratitude

Reconciling the sacrifice of your parents with your own freedom, and learning to find belonging in two worlds (code-switching).

Program Structure & Integration

This intimate, guided experience will feature 8 weekly 75-minute virtual sessions with a cohort of 8 to 10 men. The program is led by Ankur Varma, LCPC, Cofounder of ThinkGoodTherapy, combining therapeutic insight with cultural competency.

All participants receive a Digital Workbook with guided prompts and reflections to deepen the journey. The experience culminates in the creation of a personal narrative project; a powerful tool for integration with options including a Letter to a Younger Self, a Manhood Manifesto, or a Values Map.
